Cool old railroad button

Hunted a church lot that had been hit many times before, so pickens were slim, but managed to get a rosie and a nice button. The button is from the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago and St Louis Railway. Since its railway and not rail road, it dates before 1917. A guy on ebay with the same button said it is 1901 as per Don VanCourt, a person who wrote a 3 volume work on US transportation uniform buttons. Either way, pretty cool and it has lots of gilt left. Any tips on cleaning off the light crud on it; I’ve just used water so far.
